We are ONE year old - October 28, 2011 |
We are "Shorkie sisters" - Shih Tzu and Yorkie mixes. Our dad was Maverick, a Yorkie, and our mother was, Missy, a Shih Tzu. We were adopted by our moms (sisters also) on January 15, 2011 at the age of eleven weeks old. We wanted our adventures journaled because we are going to be so much fun!

Our Very Traumatic Week
It was a very rough week for us. On Saturday we had to go to the groomers which is not a pleasant experience. Then on Wednesday we had to go to the vet. It was time for us to be "fixed." Also while we were under, someone decided that this would also be a good time to have our baby teeth pulled. We were dropped off at 8:30 AM and could not be picked up until the next morning. When they came to get us we were still very much "under the influence" of drugs. It took us several days before we were back to our perky little selves.

Our First Trip to Dorothy's
Today, we went to the groomers, Dorothy's, for our very first haircut. We were not impressed, and neither was Rusty, the man who did us. He was nice, but you could tell he did not enjoy doing us. Maybe it was because Elly would bite him, or because we both acted like drama queens. Even though we are cute; hopefully, we will not have to go back anytime soon.

Our First Trip to the Lake House
We both got to go to the lake house together for a couple of days at the end of Spring Break. This was a new adventure for us both - a new environment, new smells, leaves and more leaves, and five children to play with us all the time. We had play time day and night. Were we ever tired and dirty when we got home!

My First Camping Experience!
I got to go on a road trip this weekend. My folks loaded all my "stuff" in a sack one morning and put me in the front seat of the truck. I was a little concerned where I was going, but I tried not to show it. I just laid down on the console with my favorite blankie. The ride was actually not bad at all, and it was a fairly short ride.
(At least they didn't take me back to that place with a guy in a white coat carrying a long needle to poke in me!)
Anyway, we got to a place they kept calling the "campground." Man, I loved this place. Lots of water, trees, weeds, and plenty of leaves to eat and/or roll in. I had all my food, snacks, bedding, and still got to go out walking all the time.
I was really a good girl while camping in the RV (as they call it). I think they may just take me back!!
I sort of wished Abby had got to come though.

An Update after a Month
I thought I would give you a quick update with living with Rick and Marilyn. These are some of the things I have noticed so far:
- Rick gives me real food. Marilyn does not.
- Sachmo, the cat, only plays with me when she wants to. The rest of the time she slaps at me with her paws.
- When the baby-gate goes up, I start running. I know that soon I am going to be locked up in "my room."
- Dead birds are not allowed in the house.
- If I hide under the lawn mower, the tractor, and the riding toys, I get to stay ouside longer because they can't get to me.
- I like Elly to come play, Mighty Mouse, and the rest of my toys.

Not As Much Fun!
I have been playing with this little "friend" while I couldn't play with you, Abby.
Problem is---she won't chase me back!

A Trip to the Vet
On Monday, we got to meet one of the vets that will be taking care of us. It was not a fun experience; in fact, the vet hurt us. We got shots, which made us cry and our moms squirm. Other than the shots, we did get checked out. Elly weighed in at 1.8 pounds and Abby 2.0 pounds.

Reasons You Will Be Glad You Adopted Us!
• Loyalty. We will give you our undying affection for very little in return. A little food, water and a scratch or two behind the ear is generally all it will take.
• Companionship. We want to go everywhere with you! We promise we will be great traveling dogs. It won't matter whether you are going places around town or headed to NASCAR, we want to go!
• Unconditional love. We will love you no matter what. All we care about is pleasing you and getting love in return. It's a beautiful thing!
• Protection. Although we are little, we will do our best to protect and alert you as needed.
• Joy. Yes, this is the biggest! You will come home every day to wagging tails and happy faces.
We knew you would like these!!!
